D&C 10

You and I must translate these books again. Word by word, line by line, verse by verse, chapter by chapter, God wants the whole thing translated once more, and this time he wants it translated into your native tongue, inflected by your native concerns, and written in your native flesh.

—Adam Miller, Letters to a Young Mormon

(1) You gave away the holiness you obtained in your stewardship, so I took away your stewardship and the gifts by which you executed it, (2) and you had to remember what it was to not feel me with you, to fear that you were no longer a part of my work.

(3) But look: I’ve given your stewardship back to you, so be faithful. (4) Persevere, but don’t try to do more than you can. Allow yourself to be what and where you are—I don’t need speed, I need steadiness.

(5) Pray. Pray because there are forces in the world who would seek to make you less than you are. Pray because there are those who would see you fail, who would see my work falter.

(14) I won’t let them. (21) They are deceived, they no longer come to me in prayer and seek my will and truth, (25) they pass judgement when they should be humble. (28) They say that some sin on their part is merited to catch another in what they say in sin, but in this they err. I pass judgement. I say what is good and what is sin. And I say that those who judge and seek to justify themselves will meet with my justice in the last day, and it will not be a comfortable experience.

(33) These forces that work evil seek to make your faith useless. They hope to delay my good news and my glorious work—they know that they cannot end it, but they hope to prevail in darkness one more time with even one more person. They know what people sometimes forget—every soul is precious. Every moment and every person is stamped with my mark. Every loss and gain is great.

(37) Remember that you don’t get to judge either. You’re not very good at it either, and sometimes you mistake good for sin and sin for good. This is why you can’t stop praying. And this is why judgement is mine—you are bad at it. Let me handle it….

(38-45 ) The good news is, even though you make mistakes, I build workarounds. You didn’t destroy my work (you are no more capable of that than those who work against you), and this is going to be fine.

(46) My work will continue to go forward for a lot reasons, but one of them is that I’ve made thousands of years of promises to servants just like you. I promised them the thing they wanted most: that their efforts would benefit their brothers and sisters, my children. (47) I promised them, and I don’t go back on my promises. This work will roll forward, their words will be heard and will resound in hearts around the world.

(57) I am Jesus. I have practice in being rejected, but I am also the light which fills all space, which darkness cannot understand or resist. (58) I am aware of all of my children, and my light is flooding towards them, whether anyone sees it or not. (61) The work of those who have served me will not be in vain, it too is having my glorious light cast upon it, (67) and it is for everyone, every single person who wants it.

Now, behold, I say unto you, that because you delivered up those writings which you had power given unto you to translate by the means of the Urim and Thummim, into the hands of a wicked man, you have lost them.

And you also lost your gift at the same time, and your mind became darkened.

Nevertheless, it is now restored unto you again; therefore see that you are faithful and continue on unto the finishing of the remainder of the work of translation as you have begun.

Do not run faster or labor more than you have strength and means provided to enable you to translate; but be diligent unto the end.

Pray always, that you may come off conqueror; yea, that you may conquer Satan, and that you may escape the hands of the servants of Satan that do uphold his work….

14 Verily, I say unto you, that I will not suffer that Satan shall accomplish his evil design in this thing….

21 And their hearts are corrupt, and full of wickedness and abominations; and they love darkness rather than light, because their deeds are evil; therefore they will not ask of me….

25 Yea, he saith unto them: Deceive and lie in wait to catch, that ye may destroy; behold, this is no harm. And thus he flattereth them, and telleth them that it is no sin to lie that they may catch a man in a lie, that they may destroy him….

28 Verily, verily, I say unto you, wo be unto him that lieth to deceive because he supposeth that another lieth to deceive, for such are not exempt from the justice of God.

33 Thus Satan thinketh to overpower your testimony in this generation, that the work may not come forth in this generation….

37 But as you cannot always judge the righteous, or as you cannot always tell the wicked from the righteous, therefore I say unto you, hold your peace until I shall see fit to make all things known unto the world concerning the matter….

46 And, behold, all the remainder of this work does contain all those parts of my gospel which my holy prophets, yea, and also my disciples, desired in their prayers should come forth unto this people.

47 And I said unto them, that it should be granted unto them according to their faith in their prayers….

57 Behold, I am Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I came unto mine own, and mine own received me not.

58 I am the light which shineth in darkness, and the darkness comprehendeth it not.

59 I am he who said—Other sheep have I which are not of this fold—unto my disciples, and many there were that understood me not….

61 And I will bring to light their marvelous works, which they did in my name….

67 Behold, this is my doctrine—whosoever repenteth and cometh unto me, the same is my church.
