We Need Other People (D&C 43:8-10)

(8) The thing I’m about to ask you is an actual commandment, as in not a suggestion, as in not for just a few of you: gather together with each other. Get together and talk about me and share ideas and ask questions, because this is how you’re going to find out what I want for my church. You’re not actually going to understand the things I tell you on your own. I’m going to teach you through your counsels together.

(9) You cannot go this alone. You need each other to really learn what I mean; you all have pieces, none of you have the whole. When you do this, I will recognize your efforts and send my grace upon you. Together, you’ll make covenants that will bind you to me forever. You can’t do that by yourself.

(10) If you do this, if you you get together to talk about me, if you perform the ordinances that bind you collectively to me, then I will send you even more grace, even more revelation, even more blessings. If you don’t, then the grace and revelations and blessings that I’ve already given you will not serve you in the way they were intended to.

And now, behold, I give unto you a commandment, that when ye are assembled together ye shall instruct and edify each other, that ye may know how to act and direct my church, how to act upon the points of my law and commandments, which I have given.

And thus ye shall become instructed in the law of my church, and be sanctified by that which ye have received, and ye shall bind yourselves to act in all holiness before me—

10 That inasmuch as ye do this, glory shall be added to the kingdom which ye have received. Inasmuch as ye do it not, it shall be taken, even that which ye have received.
